The last time I heard from my primary doctor he left me a voice mail in 2012 with the results from my last physical. “Robert, your cholesterol is a little high so eat better, exercise more and I’ll see you next year.” WHAT?!?
Well it was that advice that put me on the path to finding a doctor who would get to know me and my goals. Someone who would dig deeper finding the root of my problems and guide me on a path to healthy living. I found that in February of 2013 when Dr. Cox took me on as a patient.
I had a big birthday in 2013. While I had no “major” problems I was on the path to middle age. Growing old with a handful of daily medications. I had about given up…I figured that tired and overweight was the naturally way of growing old. But I decided sitting in Dr. Cox’s office that if I wasn’t happy with my current results (fat and tired) that something had to change. But I had come to the end of the road…I didn’t know what to do!
Dr. Cox told me that my best years didn’t have to be behind me and thanks to Dr. Cox I can say that I have never felt better! The fact is that I didn’t know how bad things really were. I was 50 pounds overweight, addicted to sugar and on track for diabetes. I had no energy to play with my kid or be a good husband and no motivation at work. In hindsight I was battling some depression and working on drinking too much.
Dr. Cox took the time to talk to me. Not just read test result and move quickly to the next patient room. He would explain things to me. Find out what I wanted and help me realize that I could probable achieve more than I thought. He found the “skip in my step” that I had lost over the years.
Today, I’m 50 pounds lighter, leaner and stronger than I was in high school. My blood work is better that it has ever been and my mind is clear and calm. With Dr. Cox as my coach and quarterback, I now have a “team” of experts helping me grow better as I grow older!
